Genus is a beautiful, native front end for Plex that provides a premium viewing experience on tvOS and macOS.
Entertainment · tvOS · iPadOS · v1.1.0, v1.0.0 · $14.99

Genus is a focused client for the media you already own on Plex. It brings your libraries to the big screen and other Apple devices with a simple structure—home, search, and your server’s libraries—so you can open the app and get to movies, shows, and episodes without wading through clutter.
Playback is built around your Plex library: streams, audio, and subtitles line up with what your server knows, so watching at home feels consistent with how you’ve organized and tagged your collection. Genus is for people who want a calm, native-feeling way to enjoy a personal Plex server, not another generic streaming grid.
Genus is a dedicated Apple-native client built with SwiftUI and AVKit end-to-end, so playback and system integration feel like first-party media apps rather than Plex’s cross-platform “same everywhere” shell.
The whole app is oriented around your own server—home, libraries, and search—without folding in Plex’s broader client experience (promoted rows, rentals, and other non-library surfaces you get in the main app).
Playback is tuned for your library’s reality: stream-aware audio and subtitle selection, plus intro / ad / credit markers surfaced as skip-style actions where the platform supports them.
Power-user levers stay upfront, including transcoding quality and in-player technical readouts (“stats”) for people who actually manage bitrates, servers, and clients.
Layout and navigation are deliberately custom (including a Mac sidebar flow and tvOS-first patterns), so the product can prioritize “open app → watch what’s on my Plex” instead of mirroring every tab and upsell from Plex’s own app.
Shipped on Genus—the same release discipline behind The Blueprint.
