JüK

JUK is a native macOS companion for Apple Music that puts your library and playback a keystroke away—think a focused, music-first launcher that lives in the menu bar.

What we're building

JUK is a native macOS companion for Apple Music built for people who care more about the music they love than about another generic “browser” full of rectangles, tables, and noise. It lives quietly in your menu bar and opens with a Spotlight-style launcher—so you can jump straight into search, discovery, and playback without turning your whole desktop into a music app. When you want depth, you still get a full library experience; when you want speed, you get a single place to type, pick, and play.

Under the hood it’s powered by MusicKit and your real Apple Music library, so what you hear is what you own and save—not a separate, pretend catalog. Phrases like “play all songs by…” can mean exactly that: pull the artist’s tracks from your library and start playback, while traditional search keeps surfacing artists, albums, songs, and playlists when you’re browsing instead of commanding. JUK is the middle ground between a minimal player and a power-user library: fast when you’re in flow, capable when you’re in the mood to dig in.

Planned capabilities

Menu bar + launcher — Open a Spotlight-style search panel from the menu bar (or a shortcut) without switching to a full music window first.

Run in the background — Keep the main library window hidden so JUK stays out of the way until you explicitly open it.

Library-first commands — Type things like “play all songs by…” and actually start playback from your library, not just a catalog search list.

One compact command surface — Search, pick, and play artists, albums, songs, and playlists from a single small panel instead of Apple Music’s heavier navigation.

Dock-friendly controls — Use the Dock menu for quick play/pause and track info when you’re not inside the app.
